feature: InnerView: A Clinical Psychologist talks about Punishmentality in healthy relationships
InnerView

Dr. Susan T. is a clinical psychologist who has specialized in couples therapy. She was a member of the "Kink-Aware Professionals" reference list until taking a break from her practice to be home with her kids last year.

She's counseled couples who live Backside-type lifestyles, and agreed to talk with us about this issue's theme, Punishmentality. We'd exchanged several emails, but otherwise don't know each other.

This chat occurred via Yahoo Instant Messenger and has been edited only for typos, a couple of editorial clarifications, and a global replacement of our YIM screen names to protect privacy.

BOBBY: Thank you for joining me Doctor. I think that your perspective might interest our readers. We've spoken a couple of times now, so I wonder if you'd describe your impression of our topics and approach, so folks know where you're coming from? Take your time, we'll be putting this transcript up verbatim, so I'd like to hear your full thoughts, if you don't mind.

DR_SUSAN_T: My pleasure. In hindsight I wish I'd asked for your questions ahead, but I'll do the best I can. :) Remember, I'm not a researcher on these dynamics. I hope you can find something of use.

BOBBY: Well, we're here to illuminate all angles of these things, so a professional perspective is just another piece of the puzzle. Would you tell us a little about your exposure to D/s and DD lifestyles?
